Hi, I just bought an iPad with 3g and would like to know what 3G service providers are available in India currently.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Regarding your question there are quite a few carriers in India the trouble is what might work in one area might not work in another. May be best to contact Carriers that are operating in the area you want.
Here is a thread I found that does list some carriers, look to the later pages to see the more recent posts.

Well almost every network has 3G .u just have to get a normal sim and cut it to convert to a microsim. The people there will do it for u it isn't any trouble. U could use bsnl obviously as its cheaper and the best network coverage.
And if u want only 2 g just get a normal sim and make it a micro sim .i pad will support 2 g also.hope this helps.

Thats a super rip-off. Do you really get a speed enough to watch youtube videos (on Ipad) with such fledgling internet service?

I was an Airtel user for many years (chennai region) but not mobile Internet. Since I faced horrible situations with Airtel customer service, I quit and took vodafone. Even if vodafone signal was little weaker in few places compared to Airtel, their customer service is excellent. Airtel customer service sucks. Particularly with mobile sim issues. Landline is fine.
