I noticed a number "3" circled in red started showing up on my App icon. Is this to show me I recently downloaded 3 new apps? How can I get rid of the number?
It means that three of your apps have updates available. Start the Appstore app, click on "Updates" on the bottom of the screen and then "update all" (provided that is what you want to do).
