A question about Mailboxes. Help needed, please.

My iPad 2 has just two folders in the mailbox. These are, of course, Inbox and Spam. I can delete messages which I don't need to keep via the Spam folder but the ones I am keeping for future reference are all in the Inbox which is getting quite crowded and it takes time to find the ones which I need to read again. Please can someone advise me how to create one or two more folders (I believe the iPad will not allow many but surely it will allow more than two). Thanks in anticipation of your help.

If you are using a POP account for your e-mail, then there is no way to make folders. In fact, you cant even use folders on a POP account, let alone make them, But, if you have an IMAP or Exchange account, then see my "how to" post in this thread: http://www.ipadforums.net/new-membe...sistance/60856-extra-folder-mail-account.html

It gives the steps and details for creating a folder on the iPad. You could also make the folders on the web (in your mail account) - but what's the fun in that? :)

Hope this helps.

If you ever need a workaround with a pop account and want to use folders (even though pop won't let you create folders):

You can create an imap account (as with Gmail) and create folders there, and then move emails from the pop account into the folders created under your imap account. I recommend that only if you want to stick with pop for your own reasons and still want to use folders.

Excellent reminder, K3! :) I do it so often that I forget to remind people that it doesn't matter where they originate when moving e-mails around on the iPad.

Oh, and for the record - I don't want a POP account ... but Time Warner refuses to move into the modern times and so I'm stuck with one. It's why I got a Gmail account when I purchased my first iPad. Stoooopid Time Warner...!! :D
