With respect to your question you can add individual songs to your iPad by finding the song in iTunes, click on it and drag it to your iPad listed in the left-hand menu of iTunes. You can see which songs have been added individually (and remove them if you want) by clicking on your iPad in the left-hand menu of iTunes, then clicking on the "Music" tab and scrolling down to the bottom of the page to "Manually Added Songs".

If you don't want your entire library to sync to iTunes, under the "Music" tab uncheck "Entire music library" and check the "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" radio buttons. Then check the boxes for whichever combinations of Playlists, Artists and so on that you want on your iPad.

More info on syncing with iTunes here:

Hope that helps!

Welcome again and enjoy!

Originally you said you wanted a single song. Now you're saying you're working with a playlist. I guess I'm not clear on what you want to do.

I can select single songs and drag them to the iPad in iTunes easily. Are you holding down any keys? If you just click on a single song do all of the songs highlight? Without seeing it, it's pretty difficult to know what's going on.

If you want to sync a playlist you don't have to do anything but check the box next to the playlist you want and click sync.

Have another look at the instructions and see if you can't figure it out.

Perhaps others will have some suggestions.

Connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes (if it doesn't open automatically), click on the "Music" tab at the top of the screen and follow these steps (click on the thumbnail for full-sized screen shot)...

Be sure nothing but what you want on your iPad is checked.

That should do it!
