Adding new icons

I'm new to this forum, but I've been searching and haven't been able to find the answer to this question. So, if it's out there, I'm sorry to post it here.

Can you add icons to the iPad without jailbreaking it?

Explanation: I have a specific webpage that I frequent a lot, so I added it to my homepage and it comes up with a plain white icon. Can I create and add a customized icon for that webpage instead of that bland white square?

I don't feel comfortable jailbreaking my iPad while it's still under it's Protection plan/warranty, so I was hoping there was a way to add icons (or even an App that would do it) without going the jailbreak route.

Thanks

Esther

I like to use an app called Touch Icon (it's $.99 USD in the App Store). You can use it to make a nice icon for your Safari bookmarks you've saved to your homescreen.

I like to find a picture of the web site's logo and then, when using the Touch Icon app, you can select whatever picture you want to create an icon.

It sounds a lot more complicated than it is, honest! It's usable by anyone (not a jailbreak app).

It's the best thing out there for making attractive looking bookmarks, IMNSHO. Of course, YMMV.

[Gosh, I just acronym'd the heck out of this post, didn't I? :D]

Anyway. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thank you for your response. In fact, after I posted my question, it occurred to me that there might actually be an app for that, so I went looking and found three. I ended up going with Iconizer and like it. I have been creating homepage icons for all the places I frequent.

Thanks again

Hey, thanks for responding back to this! After I read your post, I looked up and then bought Iconizer for myself, mainly because it'll let me create e-mail shortcuts (Touch Icon wouldn't). Now, I can just touch someone's photo to send them an e-mail. Kewl!

So, thanks for the tip!

You're welcome. Glad I was able to help someone else out.

Now I have a question about photos, but I will search the forum before posting it.

There is an option of custom Url in that iconizer program. As i understand this is to create shortcuts for wifi or bluetooth. But i couldnt manage to do that. Any advice?
