What's new

Another Newbie!

Hello all and happy new year. I finally got around to registering here. I've had my iPad a little over 2 years. Since I've had it a while and have gotten comfortable, I figured it's time to find out all the little tricks, bells, and whistles that can be done.

I'm trying to figure out how I can transfer games to my library and if so, does that help free up more of my memory on the iPad? Also, does anyone know if there is or will be any kind of adapter for the iPad to use with flash drives?

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Happy New Year to you also!

You could just delete any gaming apps you aren't using right now and yes, it will free up some space on your iPad. These apps can be downloaded again at any time for free as the Apple store keeps a record of all the apps you have bought. Look under the Purchased tab in the App Store.
Or you can back them up in iTunes or iCloud......here's a link which will explain them both and you will find some links on how to do this lower on the page under Additional into.

By flash drives do you mean you want to connect to some type of storage device. I'll attach some links....let us know if this is what you're after.

Hello and welcome to the forum! :) Concerning games, if you have routinely performed backups of your iPad to a computer (cabled or wirelessly) or to the cloud, your games should be present in one or more of those locations; also purchased games from the iTunes Store can always be downloaded. So, if you need space on your iPad and/or no longer want to play a game(s), then they can be deleted w/o permanent loss.

You may already own a CCK (Camera Connection Kit) for your iPad which accepts a USB connector - however, this will not allow a standard flash drive to be used w/ the device; the iOS is an 'app-centric' operating system and does not behave like Windows' 'file-centric' approach - now I'm referring to a stock iPad, i.e. not one that is jail-broken which I cannot address (there is a separate forum here for those interested). Now there are now a number of wireless options to transfer files from a computer, camera, or other device wirelessly - the one that I am currently using is AirStash which accepts SD cards (e.g. from a camera or a computer), sets up its own personal Wi-Fi network, and allows file transfers - check out the link to Amazon for user comments - good luck. Dave
