CrunchGear reports that Apple and the BBC are to host a joint iPad 2 event in the UK next Wednesday at exactly the same time as the iPad 2 launch event will be taking place in San Francisco. British actor and TV personality Stephen Fry, an avowed Apple evangelist, will be hosting the invitation-only event at the BBC Television Centre in London. Crunch Gear says that there is speculation that there will be some sort of FaceTime video chat between the two events, meaning that the British event will possibly be part of the official launch event in the US. The BBC may well also be keen to show off its new iPlayer iPad app of course. It also makes you wonder, if the iPad 2 is really going on sale immediately following the launch announcement in the US, as we’ve just been reporting, could the same also be happening it the UK? It seems pretty unlikely, but you never know!

Rats. Expect they are going to announce a subscription package.

I have strong doubts bout iPads going on sale immediately after the events. There has been no indication that the iPad 2 has been submitted to the FCC for approval, a requirement for all cellular devices. So, even it they do go on sale immediately it will probably be like last year, the WiFi only models at first with the 3G versions to follow about a month later.

Probably just a way of streaming the US event to UK journalists in one location and with hands on new ipads for them after the keynote.
