MacStories reports on news of the latest patent filed by Apple as noted by Patently Apple, which indicates that Apple is thinking about bringing a version of its Aperture photo editing software to iPad and other touchscreen iOS devices. According to Patently Apple, it may even be available for future desktops and laptops should they ever incorporate touchscreen technology. The patent application refers to pen input as well as touch input for the software, including talk of a smart light pen that could help with editing. As MacStories points out, having a version of Aperture running on iPad would be ideal for professional photographers who are somewhat limited with the iPad’s current “Photos†app and want to edit their pictures when out in the field and away from their studio or desk. Talk of light pens also makes you wonder if Apple is thinking of introducing them for other apps too.
