According to a fresh report coming from the Wall Street Journal publication, it seems that Apple has recruited another expert from the auto industry, a move that could prove the company's efforts to develop an electric car are gaining ground.
Apple has hired Doug Betts, an auto manufacturing executive from Fiat Chrysler. We've seen numerous reports in recent months suggesting that Apple could potentially be getting into the auto industry with its own electric car and the hiring of Betts is further fueling the speculation,
It's worth pointing out that Betts is an expert in auto manufacturing, not just sales. Betts has spent almost 30 years in the auto industry, working at companies including Michelin, Toyota, and Fiat Chrysler. WSJ cites Betts' updated LinkedIn profile as proof of his move, in which he now changed his title to "Operations - Apple Inc." However, he has since removed his profile.
It's also quite curious that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles chief Sergio Marchionne was in California in May to discuss Apple's "intervention in the car" with CEO Tim Cook. Apple is rumored to be working on an electric vehicle, dubbed Project Titan, which could feature advanced functionality like autonomous driving features.
