MacRumors reports that Apple has today released its new social video creation app “Clips.”
The app enables you to combine videos, images, and music into one video that you can then share on iMessage, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other social networks.
The Clips app also has a “Live Titles” feature that enables you to create animated captions using just your voice, as well as letting you add various other effects such as comic book filters, speech bubbles, and shapes. You can also combine individual video clips up to 30 minutes long to create 6o-minute-long videos that can be shared in 1080p HD if the video source is HD.
In a review of Clips, The Verge noted that the fact that you can create hour-long videos that can be shared in HD makes the Clips app “much more of a video creation app than a Snapchat competitor.”
Also reviewing the app, Time said “While Apple is constantly improving the iPhone’s camera hardware and behind-the-scenes software, Clips is a rare evolution of its camera app - an evolution that reveals how it’s thinking about the future of photography with the iPhone, the world’s most commonly used camera.”
