Apple noob here.

Been a PC all my adult life (decades now!) and finally bought into the Apple thing.

Hope the ride is fun - although I have found a nail in my tyre already with really slooooow backup speeds on my chunky desktop. Not happy with it at the moment......

You aren't alone. My family was shocked when I bought my first Apple product. My future son-in-law (from your part of the world) says it's a gateway drug, but I'll do my best to resist. It helps that Apple doesn't want to sell me their phone, since in the U.S. their only provider doesn't provide where I live. But I am enjoying the iPad.
