Apple has updated its iTunes Store app on iOS and desktop with a new “Free on iTunes” section that is now available on the homepage. This new feature will allow Apple users to find free content much easier, without having to waste a lot of time browsing for these items.
The “Free on iTunes” tab shows music and full length TV show episodes that can be downloaded free of charge.
You will find there such content as songs by Asking Alexandria, Machine Head, Rogue Wave, and episodes from TV shows like 12 Monkeys, Backstrom, and more. By the looks of it, this seems to be more indie content, instead of media coming from big production names.
The new section seems to be available only in the US iTunes Store for now, but it could gradually roll out to other countries, as well.
The section replaces Apple's "iTunes Single of the Week", which previously offered free songs from popular and indie music artists.
