The HD iPad version of Gameloft’s Assassin’s Creed: Altaïr’s Chronicles has finally made it onto the App Store. It’s looking a bit gorgeous as you can see from the trailer! iPad exclusive features include completely revamped HD graphics, an iPad-optimised camera, and a customisable interface.
The game is set in Jerusalem, 1191 AD, during the Third Crusade. You control Altaïr, a Master Assassin sent by the Order of the Assassins on a quest to find the “Chaliceâ€, a powerful object that could end the Crusades. It’s up to you to steal the Chalice from the Templars and bring peace to the land. No pressure!
For fans of the console series, Altaïr’s Chronicles fits in just before the start of the console games, acting as a prequel. The gameplay is a potent mix of stealth, chaotic action and puzzle-solving exploration, all taking place in a 3D world set in the historical Middle East.
As part of the gameplay, you must master assassin skills, such as combo attacks that mix sword-fighting finesse and kicks, and also tax your brain with skill-based mini-games, such as pickpocketing.
There’s also a collecting element to add extra spice to the gameplay, involving collecting orbs to upgrade health and weapons.
