AT&T Refurb Question

If I make an online purchase of an iPad1 from AT&T and intend to use the same credit card for iTunes and the AT&T monthly will it come ready to go (apart from battery charge) or will I still need to activate it with AT&T and find a current Mac somewhere (mine is too old with 10.4) to register with iTunes?

I would assume it would need to be activated which you should be able to do at any AT&T store.

Best option for you would be to speak to someone at AT&T.

Thanks

Thanks Dave. I am really more concerned about the iTunes side of getting an online iPad up and running. If I buy one from my local dealer they will do the set up for me (and later upgrades, etc.) but I really can not bring one into to them that I purchased elsewhere.

They definitely do not come activated and so definitely will need to be connected to a PC or Mac initially. However, if you have an Apple Store near you, they will do this for you - even if you didn't purchase the iPad from them. Of course, this is not much help if the nearest Apple Store is several hundreds of miles away. But almost any PC with the latest version of iTunes will do this - so maybe you have a friend or colleague or relative that could help out. It's a once-only procedure - assuming you don't want to do subsequent backups - and it takes just minutes...

Thanks again

Tim, thank you very much. One of these refurbs seems like a good way to get an intro to the Ipad and then we are ready for iPad3.
