Audio output iPad 2

Hi, friends, this is my first thread here and I´m very gratefully for any help.

The only way to transfer any kind of sound from iPad2 to an external source is from headphones jack, or we can transfer from the USB cable to ear the sound with the desktop loudspeakers ?

I´m needing to use a musical instrument from it, but the headphone output, introduces distortion when connected direct to desktop (or other amplifier), due be an amplified signal.

You can use Bluetooth too, of course. So a connection via Bluetooth to external audio equipment will work just fine.
