Haven't heard of anything like that, but there is auto-correction... which can be a pain! If I am not paying attention (which is most of the time), it will change a word that I actually typed in the way I wanted it!
By auto-text, do you mean predictive text? Like where it tries to guess your next word based on the sentence you are typing? If so, no, iOS doesn't have anything like that.
On the BB if I type "dri" it is set to automatically type in "Driving, can't type". It's just a very nice shortcut...
I have hundreds of those shortcuts for things I say a lot. "ILY" "cml" for "call me later'.. things like that.
Yeah, I wish the iPad had that as well. I love that feature on my Android phone. It actually learns my writing style as I type and predicts what I want to say next without even typing a single letter of the next word. I rarely have to type a complete word.
If iOS would allow custom developed keyboards this wouldn't be a problem.
There is a way to add auto text on the iPad and iPhone just like you would on the BB. On the iPhone go to settings then general, tap keyboard and scroll down to shortcuts. There is a butto that says add shortcut this will allow you to add whatever you want. So if you type (dri) you'll get driving can't text. Same steps for iPad. So yes the iPhone iPad's are the greatest devices lol
