What's new

bigger iPad?

saw somewhere on the web.

iPad to get bigger in size? is that true?

can't wait if it is true.
There are rumours of a larger iPad to be introduced sometime next year. There has been no official announcement from Apple on this. I assume that we'll see an announcement from Apple sometime in the next few months.

. . .I assume that we'll see an announcement from Apple sometime in the next few months.

Or not. If they aren't making a bigger iPad we'll still have rumors about it, every year; probably until they do make one, or stop making iPads altogether. :)

Depends on what camp you're in and who you listen to.

One camp, "There's a new iPad on the horizon called an iPad Pro that'll be 12 inches or bigger!"

The other camp, "iPad sells have fallen off significantly and Apple will have no choice but to discontinue the entire lineup."

Me? I lean toward the 1st camp, but have no clue about either. If Apple releases a 12" + iPad, I doubt I'll get one. I'm happy with the 9.7" model. If they discontinue the iPad, I'm fine with that as I have my new Air 2 128GB + Cellular on the way!

I doubt they'll get rid of it and I doubt they'll make a 12" version.

Here's what I think will happen: Apple will create a "Tablet Air" that will combine the iPad Air with the MacBook Air creating a device that will compete with the Surface. This might cause them to discontinue one or both of the Air lines, or it might just give us another option to purchase more hardware.

That's just my opinion which is just as good as the two camps I mentioned above and just as accurate at this time.

When we talk about Ipads having fallen off in sales, its realistic to look at numbers and see what's happening, People keep tablets much longer than phones so the replacement numbers are lower but the Ipad has taken hold and still continues to sell huge numbers--its just relative. Bigger screened phones are probably going to cut into sales of the Mini but as new features and firmware depend on new hardware people will gradually replace their older Ipads and the numbers sold will likely stay fairly stable but not sell like hot cakes as before--a lot of the desire has been sated and people are in a more regular hold and replace cycle now.

There are a number of people that would like a larger Ipad--myself included, as the possibility of photography processing, graphics, etc (and other 'creative' work) with really good apps gets better and better. There are lots of people using it for creative purposes and a somewhat larger screen, processor, etc would be welcomed, I think the screen size we're using now will continue--its just right for most people--and a larger Ipad will be introduced as a more niche product for those that need it.

A physically larger iPad wouldn't be as practical for a portable device in terms of outdoors but would fit for studios or home-use around the house. However, if they slim the bezel of the iPad, which increases the size, and at the same time worry less about slimming the device as a whole, it would be the best of both worlds, those that want a larger screen/resolution without sacrificing battery life, and still decent sized enough to carry around without it being too bulky in comparison to the Air

I'd definitely go for a larger iPad. If they would have brought one out along with the other stuff with the new stuff this fall, I most likely would have ditched my 11 month old Air and upgraded.

They made a bigger phone, so we can only hope:)
