Ince downloadingnOS5 my text boxes are on a blue background whereas before the background was green. What's up with this?

iMessage wil be in Blue and regular SMS in Green. You can turn the iMessage feature on or off however the iMessage text do not count against your carrier text plan. This feature is only active on IOS 5

however the iMessage text do not count against your carrier text plan.

They will count against any data usage plan that you have but the amount used will be minute.
