when i bookmark some pages to the home screen, i get only a blank page. can anyone tell me why this is so?

Hi and welcome to the Forum!
Are you trying to do a bookmark or put an icon on the home page....either way something is going astray here. Try these steps From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar. These are all the apps that you have opened at one time. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it, now press the home button to return to your screen. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly
Restart - Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will restart. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running well. Now see if it is operating.
Reset - Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. Let us know if this fixes your problem.

hello. yes, ive done as requested by closing the apps etc. however, i still cannot bookmark this particular page of a website to the home screen as an icon.. further, if were copy and paste the said page and, say, email it to someone, then it will only email the link. when the link is received, then only a blank page opens. the site is a basic horse racing site and nothing out of the ordinary.

Have you tried doing this with another website? So as to rule out the ipad having a problem....I'm thinking it's the site here.....do you need to log onto this site? And is there a credit account of any type connected with it? As it could be a security reason for it not working....otherwise I'm just clutching at straws here as I can see no other reason why you can't.
Let us know and maybe others may chime in.

thanks leelai.. its obviously this site has the issue. but i can perform the action on a mac and a pc and an iphone but not the ipad. i have rung the IT people at the site. they were no help. there is only a simple name and password to access the site. no credit card details etc.
