bookmarks IE to iPad

Hi I am brand new to this forum and also to any forum for that matter, so hopefully I can figure out how to use the forum to my advantage.!!!
Here is my question- my operating system is Internet Explorer and I want all my bookmarks to transfer to my new iPad which I believe runs Safari.
Please let me know step by step what I need to do!
