Warning - Breaking your iPad by picking it up.

I was going to reply to another thread but thought this was worthy of its own as a warning to all iPad users. This didn't happen to me thank goodness, but to someone I know. She simply picked up her iPad by the corner (horizontally so there was a torquing moment from the weight, light though it is) and the screen cracked. So please be careful how you pick yours up!

Anyone else have this happen or know someone it happened to?

I think that there must have already been some stress on the glass for this to happen. Possibly the edge of the aluminium case was deformed due to previously being dropped.

The same problem happens to laptops and no they are not covered by warranty replacement. I have seen several cases of laptops and net books with screen cracked or severe internal damage due to picking up from a corner or by the screen. In every case the manufactures denied warranty repare. If Apple chooses to repare or replace the ipad at no charge you are very very lucky.
