Hello, I have a mini ipad retina, and wondering what my options are as the ipad doesn't work

The issue is, I cannot slide the bar to unlock the ipad. If I hold it upright with the home button on the bottom, the slide function stops just at the end of the cycle, so I'm unable to get unlock to get to the home screen. I tried sliding to unlock by rotating the ipad, but doesn't work at all.. So, with that said, the touch screen is completely busted.

Are there ways by unlocking the unlock screen without sliding the bar? Would a wireless keyboard work?

Here's an idea of how busted my ipad is.

There is no workaround for the slide to unlock motion, the iPad cannot be unlocked from a Bluetooth keyboard. Which iOS version are you on? In iOS 7.0.6, you can make the slide to unlock motion anywhere on the screen.

Do you have AppleCare+, it covers against up to two incidents of accidental damage. The standard warranty does not cover accidental damage.

If you can't get it unlocked, have you tried connecting it to iTunes on your computer and doing a full backup? This is in case you have to get the iPad repaired or replaced. Without AppleCare, the repair cost is about half the cost of a new iPad. If you get a replacement iPad, you can set it up from the backup you were hopefully able to make.

I didn't install the the latest firmware so I'm unable to use that new feature unfortunately. Don't have AppleCare either so. Well, looks like I'll go for a repair, although maybe I'll be better off selling this off as a broken/repair rather than going for repair?

The slide to unlock motion anywhere on the screen will actually work with any version of iOS 7.

Sorry, one other thing. If I do get it repaired, by obvious reasons I'm unable to delete all the data to my ipad when I send it in so not sure how to go around this? With all my info still on the ipad, don't they give you a new refurbished ipad and not your current one?

It depends on the location you take it to. Some Apple Stores do some repairs on site. You should call ahead of time and ask if they repair the screen or give you a refurbished iPad on payment of the repair fee. If they plan on exchanging the iPad, you'll have to find some way of backing up the iPad or you will lose everything stored on it. If you have a friend with a computer, you could install iTunes on it and back up your iPad. Then, if you receive a refurbished iPad, you could set it up from the backup you made. You could also do an iCloud backup which doesn't require a computer. The only problem is that you only get 5GB of iCloud storage for free. Your backup is likely to be larger than that so you would need to purchase additional iCloud storage. 10GB costs $20.00/year. If you can't do the iCloud backup because of the screen damage, maybe the Apple Store could help you, it won't hurt to ask.

I do have a laptop with iTunes so I'll give that a shot and go from there. Thanks a lot for your time and advice mate, much appreciated :)
