Browser input fields problem

I've had a problem for some time with the new format for yahoo groups -- when I go to input text in their input boxes in Safari or any other browser on my iPad 4 or mini, I get a huge cursor that takes up all te side of the text and I can't type anything in the input box. I've had to give up moderating my forum on the iPad. But now, I'm having the same problem with inputting text in te inbox on gnu squirrelmail for work! It's getting so I have to give up the iPad.

Is there any workaround?
