I sync my calendar with google calendar (12year of events). However I can only search the last 12 months. Why is that?

In Settings - Mails, Contacts, Calendars - Calendars, is Sync set to "All Events"?

My calendar IS synced for 'all events'. It is that the 'search' only shows the part 12 months in 'results'.

You can't search beyond a year on your iPad. There's no possibility to do this.

That' swaddling. Another ? How do I 'force' a calendar synch. Under iOS 6 there was a sync 'button'

In the app, tap "Calendars" at the bottom. In the popup, pull down the calendars and they should start syncing. Tap "Done" afterwards.

Great - only I get a brief 'wheel'. So synced I guess. I have multiple entries although google calendar only shows a single entry. . Could spend time deleting but how would I know which IS the one in google?

Look at your entries, then disable Google (in Calendar - Calendars) and look which one is missing. Then enable it again and delete the event.

When I disable google all my entries vanish as the calendar ONLY. Synchs with google.

At least you know now that all your calendar entries are from the Google calendar.
Do you want to delete a single event from Calendar?

In the ipad calendar I have several event entries where there is only one in google calendar. Syncing doesn't get rid of the spurious entries

Do you use one Google calendar, or a few? If so, did you change some of your events?

A suggestion:
Reset your iPad: press and hold Home and Power button at the same time until the Apple logo appears.

In Settings - Mails, Contacts, Calendars, delete the account with your Google calendar and set it up again. Perhaps this will clear the multiple entries.
