camera connection kit doesn't quite work?

I bought a generic CCK and it works perfectly with an iPad 3 plugged into an iPad 2 but doesn't work with an iPad 2 plugged into an iPad 3.

Has anyone else noticed this?

My daughter (iPad 2) wanted to copy stuff (pictures and video) of my grand daughter from a teacher's iPad 2 which I suspect should work. So I tried my iPad 3 out of curiousity.

I am interested if anybody has the same problem?
