Camera icon

I have just noticed the addition of a little camera icon in the bottom right hand corner of the sleep screen. A quick experiment showed that pressing the icon brought up the camera, so that I could take photos without actually logging into the iPad.


(I just wonder about the use of this. Could someone take questionable photos with my iPad without my knowing? It does appear that I cannot access the camera from power up, so perhaps there is a timeout as well.)

The use of this icon is to take pictures without having to enter the passcode.

This didn't come with iOS 9, btw, it was added before, not sure which software version it was. 5 or 6?

Thanks J.A. I did just wonder if it had been there before! Just never noticed it- too busy with fingerprint or passcode to study the screen
