Can i change display settings on ipad 2?

I looked all through the general settings and all i can find about the display is the brightness and wallpaper setting. Is there a way i can set the display to stay lit longer or even disable the sleep mode it seems to go into after about 30 seconds of not touching the screen? Im trying to eliminate having to constantly touch the screen to "wake it up" especially when im watching the end of an ebay auction or typing a document. I put the ipad on the desk or dock and walk away or answer the phone or something and 30 seconds later the screen is black again. Hope someone knows how to adjust this. Thanks for any suggestions.

Set auto-lock to "never"

Go to Settings/Auto-Lock

That's where you set how long the ipad stays awake before going to sleep.
