Cannot update my mini 2

I cannot download update 8.1.2 to my iPad mini 2, says I need at least 6.2G of memory available. I cannot delete my photos! Is there anything I can do? Appreciate your help ,

If you connect your iPad to iTunes on your computer and do the update through iTunes, you won't have to delete anything from your iPad to do the update. If you don't have access to a computer, you'll have no choice but to free up enough storage room on your iPad to do the update.
