Can't turn off passcode

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

With regards to your question I have a passcode and it shouldn't be doing this. When an app behaves strangely, and your settings is an app also, it is best to close it completely and then relaunch it. From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly, I do mine every night. Check and see if it is operating now and let us know.

Are you using your employers iPad, or connecting to an enterprise email system through an Exchange server?

Your employer has set the passcode restriction. You cannot bypass it. Disable the Exchange Server access to email and it will go away.

Yes I guess this is the reason.

I just received my brand iphone 4S ,,,initially I had my google account (IMAP) but it didn't force me to use passcode, once I set up my work's exchange email the phone forced me to use passcode.

The option settings > general > passcode grayed out (i.e not active)

Regards

Delete your Exchange account under Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Select the account and click Delete.

Hello, I'm having the same problem with my Ipad with the option of being able to turn my passcode off grayed out. My Ipad is one used for school, so I tried the above suggestions of disabling my exchange account connected to the school except it still won't work. Can someone help me please

If it is a school supplied iPad, they may have made Passcode mandatory using their iPad management software. If that is the case, then you cannot disable it.
