Caught in a loop

I did a reset on my ipad and it is now stuck in a loop during start-up where it will not finish the restore. I've connected to iTunes (as directed in another thread), but iTunes asks for me to verify my account using my ipad...which I cannot do as it won't start up.

What I've done is the following: I've logged into iTunes (on my laptop) and connected the USB cable to the computer. I've powered the ipad off using the sleep and home buttons. When the ipad comes back on (the silver apple), I've released the sleep button and connected the USB into the ipad. iTunes states that it detects an ipad, but requires me to accept iTunes through the ipad. I can't do that as all that displays on my ipad is the silver apple.

What is happening is that the ipad starts to restore...but freezes at a specific point and won't progress from there.

Help would be appreciated

I hope I've interpreted your post correctly. Do the reset on your iPad but not while connected with the USB cable to your laptop. We have a number of very cluey members here always happy to help so an answer, if the above suggestion does not work, will not be far away. But also let's know which iPad model you have and the iOS it runs on.

Put your device into recovery mode:
Connect it to your computer and open iTunes.

Then press and hold Home and Power button. Don't let go when you see the Apple logo, keep on pressing, until you see the "connect to iTunes" screen.

iTunes will detect an iPad in recovery mode. If you want to keep the information on your iPad, select "Update".

If your iPad exits recovery mode, you'll have to repeat these steps, and select "Restore".
Hope that helps.
