I had to change my User Name with my ISP because I was receiving like 400 spam emails per day. After making those changes I attempted to go through my iPad Settings and iMac Preferences and so forth. I have two email accounts with this ISP plus a Gmail and Yahoo account. My primary account is the first one with my ISP. When the ISP changed my User Names, they also changed one of my passwords. Now, when I try to send or receive mail through my primary account, I get an error that the User Name or Password for the email account is incorrect. I have reentered them numerous times and I am certain they are correct because they work everywhere else in my system. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?
In addition, when I go to the iCloud Settings on my iPad, it has my secondary email address inserted in the Apple ID field (it was not originally set up that way) and I cannot change it. I have followed the Help instructions for making the change but it repeatedly tells me it is sending me an email so that I can verify my account. That email never shows up and the screen shots in Help do not match what appears on screen, making things all that much more difficult.
I have been fighting this battle for three weeks. Every time I think I have it solved, I end up right back where I started from. At one point I thought I had things working correctly, then I did a sync between my iPad and iMac and everything is again screwed up.
I realize this is really complicated and hard to explain. I hate to pay someone in my local Mac shop to fix this, but I am completely out of ideas. If anyone has any helpful thoughts I would love to hear them.
