Charging and sync cords, having trouble.

I'm having some trouble with some cords that are supposed to be compatible with the iPad II. I have a couple different cords that work on our iPhone 5s, iPod 5th gen, and iPad mini I but not with my new iPad mini II. When I purchased these cords they said that they would work with the mini and iOS 7. Is anyone else having troubles like this? Am I missing a setting or could something be wrong with my new iPad mini?
