At the end of December, we told you that the best iPad app of 2013, according to Apple, was Disney Animated. Now, we’re talking about ComiXology, which, for the third year running, was Apple's top-grossing non-game iPad app for 2013. ComiXology co-founder and CEO David Steinberger said in a press release the following:

In a billion dollar marketplace with competition between over a million apps, it’s gratifying to rank as the top grossing non-game iPad App in the entire iTunes App Store. This past year has been a great year for comics and ComiXology.

The leading digital comic platform in the U.S. represented 14 percent of all non-game apps in Apple's 100 top-grossing iPad apps of 2013, nabbing position number 11 on the best iTunes list of 2013. Since it was launched in the iOS store, ComiXology said that its customers have downloaded more than 6 billion pages of comics, which is indeed an impressive number. Here are some of the most important comics titles that Comixology's library includes:

  • Marvel Comics: The Avengers, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Deadpool, Daredevil, Captain America, The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, Thor, Wolverine
  • DC Comics: Batman, Justice League, Superman, Man of Steel, Green Lantern, Smallville, The Dark Knight, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Sandman
  • Image Comics: The Walking Dead, Saga, The Adventures of Spawn
  • IDW: Star Trek, Doctor Who, Judge Dredd, G.I. Joe, Angel, Transformers, Bloom County, My Little Pony, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Disney: Mickey Mouse, Cars, Toy Story, Donald Duck, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, Monsters, Inc., Tron, Epic Mickey
