I have iPad 3 - am not particularly tech savvy but am getting along fine with it. My sister is way ahead of me in tech stuff. And is wondering if iPad 2 with more gigs might be best for her.(loves movies) . She's on Christmas Island at the moment ,a nurse doing her bit for humanity(google it if you're not an Aussie). So it's hard for her to get info. The net there is for catching fish, not data. Any constructive pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.

I'm good with my iPad 2. Am not even thinking of 3 even if I have the money. Mine consists of movies, musics, and games to entertain myself. With the right connectors, I have a great entertainment machine with me.

Ditto to quake5254: the $100 difference between the 2 and 3 just ain't worth it. May to some, but not for me.

I have both a 2 and a 3. The 3 is great, but fortunately for me, I didn't have to spend my own money for the 3. If I had, I would be disappointed. For the price difference I would go for the 2. It will do what she wants it for just fine.

Thanks for the advice , seems the decision's made . Just one thing , we Skype heaps , are front camera specs comparable? Tho' with my ugly head best if I could tone down my camera. Once again - sincere thanks for your replies.

The front facing camera for both iPad versions are the same. But if your sister is at Christmas Island and wants to take photos using the iPad, the new iPad has a better back camera.

iPad storage is limited to 16-32-64Gigs. Get the 64Gig iPad2 if your sister is going to want to watch movies on her iPad. Be aware that a movie occupies about 3gigs of memory. If she has fast internet access, she can rent movies and download for viewing, and then after the rental period ends, the movie removes itself from view. iTunes is a good source for movies. Netflix is an even better place to see movies, but again, that might not be a good resource if internet access is not very good. She might have to resort to watching movies on another device.
