connection to ipod stereo dock

Hi - have had my ipad for 6 months or so now and have just purchased a component cable to connect it to my ipod dock, so I don't have to listen to my music from my iphone. My iphone works perfectly with the dock, but when I connect the ipad I just get a message up in the left hand corner saying 'dock connector'. I must be doing something wrong, but not sure what. Help please! I've gone through the user manual, but can't get any information.

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

I saw your question about connecting the iPad up with the optional component cable. OK, where have you connected the red and white audio component plugs that are part of the component cable to? They would normally go to the audio input of your stereo system - i.e. the cable is designed to directly connect your iPad to a stereo system without any need for a further dock.

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.
