I am now backing up via iCloud. I had to restore, and for some reason I lost my photos albums. I really think I lost them when I upgraded to iOs5, but I can't prove it.

Anyway I connected to iTunes to again download my photos, but iTunes wants to sync everything, which I didn't want to do. iTunes wants to delete every thing when I uncheck a sync action such as outlook calendar, apps, etc.

How can I get my photo transferred to my iPad without having iTunes deleting everything? I want to keep iCloud backup.

You could use a third-party app, such as GoodReader, which can transfer files via WiFi from a PC to the iPad.
