Crop question in the photo app

When cropping an image the functionality is such that the image automatically fills the screen when finished.
How do I stop that? I want to keep the image the same size as it was , just eLiminate the extra space around it.
Please,....I hope I don't have to get another app.

Would using the aspect do it? I think there is an aspect option with different options when you crop with that. Never used it; but was wondering if that would achieve what you want to do.
