just wondered if there is anyway to increase brightness on an ipad during the initial setup when we choose language, wireless settings, etc

just did a reset on the ipad due to some issues we were having. screen was bright and working fine. after reset screen is dark and cannot see anything like languages etc. battery life is 90%

tried to hold the menu button + power button down with no avail. still dark.

any ideas?

It's possible your backlight may have failed. To make sure, take your iPad to a very bright location and look at the screen. If you can make out what's on the screen, go to Settings>Wallpaper And Brightness and slide the brightness slider all the way to the right. If this doesn't work, you probably have a failed backlight. If you live close enough to an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have the problem checked out. If your warranty hasn't expired, the repair cost should be covered. If the warranty is expired, they'll tell you what the repair cost is.

Make sure to back up your iPad before taking it in for the Genius Bar appointment.
