Hi welcome to iPF!
Is your device charging, do you have sound?
First of all, try resetting it:
Press and hold Home and Power button at the same time until the Apple logo appears.
Restarting it would be the next option. Turn it off, if possible, then on again.
Next step is to restore it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If none of these suggestions can fix your problem, take it to the next Apple Store.

Is your iPad still on or has it shut down? We need more info on what has happened.
If it did shut down do you know if your iPad did have charge when it has shut down? If this has happened because of battery depletion, you will need to charge your iPad first for a time before it does have enough charge to turn on. At least 20 to 30 minutes of charge should do it.
Let us know how you go after doing a reset as outlined by JA above.
