Defective iPad2 Screen - need help

Hi.
My friend just gave me his iPad2 (He have iPad3 now... lucky him:), which its screen is not working.
I wonder if I can fix it by myself (for example, to replace the screen, or maybe even some simpler solution)
But for this to happen, I need to know first where exactly is the problem.
So, I uploaded a video that show the problematic screen.
Short description of the problem: when you press the Power button - there's some vertical strip moving along the screen, the it's shutting off.
Link to the video:

I'll be happy to hear your opinion.

I uploaded the videos to Youtube, but I can't link 'em, since I don't have enough messages.
I'll try to do it later.
Meanwhile, here are the links without the www:

hope this is gonna work.

Maybe ifixit.com has the solution to your problem if you have the tools and expertise to perform such a delicate operation. I've only heard of this site and haven't looked under the hood of a computer in years.

After reading some articles about dismantling an iPad (out of curiosity), you couldn't pay me to switch out the screen. It just appears too easy to wreck it.

If I got a free but defective iPad, I'd pay someone else to repair it.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Thank you, this is still helpful for me, to make a decision.
Anyway - here's the YouTube video I was talking about:

I'll be happy to hear other opinions.
