Different speeds

With 100mps cable (wireless) connection )I get arround 35mps download and 6 upload.
on my ipad4.
But my wife's iPad mini (retina display) gets 85mps download and 6 upload sitting next to me.Why the difference?

The newest iPad Mini has considerably better hardware than the iPad 4, including an updated, faster wifi radio. It is capable of handling more channels/modes than the older iPads. In fact, the specs on the iPad Mini retina are almost identical to the new iPad Air.

That may, or may not be what is going on.
