Tricia Duryee at All Things D writes today about a really cool new toy range from Disney Mobile called Disney Appmate, which incorporates a real toy car into an iPad app. The app in question, the first in the range, is based on the recently released Disney movie Cars 2. Bart Decrem, general manager of Disney Mobile, gave Duryee a live demonstration of the game, showing how, when he placed a toy car on the iPad’s screen, and then proceeded to move it along the road in the game, the game reacted to what the car was doing, with cars skidding off the road, and tractor-shaped cows getting startled when they saw the car driving by. Decrem said that the game has been designed with six-year-old boys in mind because they really like knocking things over!

No word on pricing as yet.“There’s a generation of kids who are growing up on the iPad platform,†Decrem told Duryee. “Kids used to come home from school and watch the Disney Channel, and while they still are, now kids are coming home and playing on their iPads and iPod touch."
