Somewhere on the apple.com there is a list of what Apple calls "web app" sites. These are specially coded and formatted to optimize viewing on an iPad. In the Apple store there are 4 (I think) free apps called cloudapp1, 2, 3, and 4. Each is identical and is a browser without the browser bar. If you find a "web app" that you like, install cloudapp1 and on the iPad's settings page, point it to the URL for the web app. Then, whenever you click on the cloudapp1 icon, the web app opens and looks like a conventional iPad app instead of a website. Pretty handy actually.
