Don't know what the hell is going on now, but since I did my recent upgrade on my iPad, I'm unable to download new apps or upgrade on apps I already have. I'm about ready to trash this and go with the kindle fire. It seems like something is always messed up when I upgrade my iPad. Is anyone else having issues and what can I do?

Just want to say what's going on. The app icon will just say waiting. I can go back an hour later and it will still be in the waiting mode.

Don't throw it away yet...

Have you ever changed any settings on your wireless router?

And, are you at home, or a school or office? Some schools and workplaces block certain ports and multimedia sites so the app store might be blocked.

No, I haven't changed any settings...in fact I checked them to make sure nothing had changed after upgrading. I usually do downloads at home because it's much faster than using the cell service connection.

Try doing a restart or a reset (or both ) on the iPad as sometimes, it does need a quick kick in the software. Here's how:

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears.

Reset: Hold both the power and home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo then appears (the slide to unlock screen may or may not appear). Once the logo appears, release the buttons. After a time, your homescreen will appear. Please note that it may take some time for the Apple logo to appear or for your homescreen to appear (or both). This is normal. Eventually, the homescreen will appear.

You'd be amazed at how often either, or both, of these "tricks" help the iPad behave better. Good luck and let us know how you got on - especially if these two procedures don't amaze you...

I'll have to do it when I get home from work today. Would rather use wifi than the cell service....it's much quicker

A reset doesn't need WiFi or cell service (3G). It's just Apple's fancy way of saying "reboot." That's all you're doing with it - rebooting it.

Should help reset the system, though, so that's why we recommend it when the iPad gets all hinky.

IOW, you can do it whenever you wish.
