Draining battery to 1%?

Do you think it matters if I run the battery to 1% instead of running it until it completely dies?
Just for the monthly battery calibration.

My iPad only goes to 2% then kicks off ~

Oh! I thought you were answering the OP but you ARE the OP! I am trying to do 500 things at the same time! Grayson ~ does your iPad make it to 1%?

2% is a safety factor. Though the battery isn't dead dead it shuts off at around that point. Your battery calibration could be off by the 1%-2% difference.
When it says 100% full it's not really 100% ,more like 96-98% so that is why sometimes we see after it drops below 100% it seems to drop to around 90%- 95% faster than it did from 100% to 99%. It's the calibration becoming more accurate.

Mine switches off at 1%

1% is close enough for calibration purposes.

Btw. the iPad actualize shuts of the moment it reaches 0%. Multiple personal tests have shown that once the battery drops from 2% to 1%, the battery still lasts 5-6min at 1%, before the iPad shuts off.

Oh, yeah, it does go on 1% for a while, but I've never timed it.

It does! :)

Yours doesn't?

I've run mine down to zero a couple if times.

Battery calibration? What's that? I really don't think running your battery down/to zero makes a hill of beans difference. But once a month? What a faff. Just use it as you go :)

I'm sure that Tim said this is iTunes own recommendation! I could be wrong.

Apple recommends running it all the way down once a month to keep the battery meter calibrated.
This in no way increases battery life though.

sorry, I meant Apple, that's what comes from watching Eurovision and typing on the iPad! Oops.
