DVD movies to iPad 2

I would love to be albe to transfer some of all of my DVDs to my iPad 2 to be able to watch on trips. I've searched the internet and found many ways so I decided I would come here to see what other ppl used and works. I know u have to rip DVDs to my computer and then convert it. Whats a good program that I can download off the Internet that will work. Also is there a player in the app store that will play a ripped DVD without being converted?
