Dvd to ipad

Hi all

Is it possible to rip DVDs I own to put them onto my iPad 3?

I have a windows laptop

Load them into ITunes just you would your own music on cd which should work.

I admit that I haven't done this with dvd's but I have loaded over 500 cd's that way, then sync
to the IPhone & iPad wirelessly. Works for me! Good luck!

No, not that simple. You need to rip them first..using something like Handbrake. And generally you need to remove copy protection.

I rip so few DVDs that I'm not sure if handbrake can do it on its own or not. It cannot do it for blu ray, for sure. For that, you need anydvdhd or makemkv. Makemkv will rip to uncompressed mkv and then you run handbrake on that. With anydvdhd, you just use handbrake any cp is removed on the fly. Handbrake is free. You can get a beta of makemkv, but you have to buy anydvdhd. There may be some other tools that o the same job but these are the ones I use an know about. If you google them, you will find plenty of info. They are all widely used.

I've played with most ripping progs including Handbrake, IMO for ease of use and end result quality WinX DVD Ripper Platinum and Aiseesofts DVD to iPad utils will take some beating. They are not free like Handbrake, but are so cheap, they really are a must have. I use Winx mostly, and Aiseesoft Dvd to iPad ripper for when I'm ripping Blu-ray.
