E-mail retention

Having set up my iPad 4, all the e-mails from my PC are in place, together with all old e-mails on my PC, but I would rather have my i-pad starting from fresh and not retaining all the rubbish. Would there be any problem in me deleting all the old e-mails now on my iPad, as they can be retained on my PC. Also, is there a way to remove en-bloc rather than individually.
