Error sending and receiving hotmail emails

First of all I've been sending and receiving emails from my Ipad Hotmail accounts from day one. All of a sudden tonight it quick working. I get an error when I send an email and I don't receive any emails to the account anymore. Nothing has changed as far as I know. I think I had an App Store update but that was for the Apple Store app. Here's the error I get:

Cannot get mail

The connection to the server failed.
