Hi im trying to restore my ios 4.33 to version 5.0 but everytime i try to do it i get error 3194. Ive tried everything, restore mode, dfu mode, the tiny umbrella method, hosts file... but nothing seems to work. please help me.

I don't know what type of iPad you have, but you cannot restore an iPad2 to anything other than iOS 5.1. If you have an iPad1, you have to create a custom IPSW to restore to anything other than that iOS.

Apple has closed the window on any firmware other than 5.1. That is why you are getting the errors.

Thank you for replying Marilyn. What sotfware would I need to use to create the custom IPSW?

Two important questions: What version of iPad do you have? If you have an iPad2, you cannot upgrade/install iOS 5.0.1.

If you have an iPad1, the other question is: Have you saved SHSH blobs for iOS 5.0.1? If no, then I'm sorry, but you can't create a custom IPSW.

The answers to these two questions will help us determine if you can upgrade to iOS 5.0.1. Oh, and you'd use redsn0w...

Ooh, sorry, I don't know anything about Touches. Never had one. So, while I think the process is the same, I'm afraid I don't know for sure.

So, I'll bow out of this conversation. Hopefully, someone who is experienced with the Touch will be along to help.

Sorry.

If you mean two Kindle apps, then no, you cannot have the same app on the iPad twice.

With that, please don't post a question completely unrelated to the original topic and subject of a thread. It's called "thread hijacking" and not only is it rude and poor etiquette, it's against this forum's rules. If you have a question that a search cannot answer - please start of new thread for that question or concern. Thanks.
